I am constantly reminded of my past. Having kids will do that to you. That must be how we know that we are getting old. I don’t remember looking back in High School but now that my oldest is going to be a freshman in September all those memories come flooding back. Well this is what I have been up too.
I have been married now for 16 years in July to another Meadowdale grad that I did not know in school. Leann Palmer and I met on July 2, 1998 and she forever changed my life for the better. We married in 1990 and had our first child 17 days before our 1st anniversary. The newly weds quickly became new parents and our lives were on a new path. It is funny how God can have a plan for our lives if we are just willing to listen. We now have 3 kids Zachary 15, Conner 12 and Alyssa 8.
It is crazy how you loose touch with your old classmates. Yes Ron & Carrie/Steve & Angie we have the big “L” on our foreheads. The kids consume us with basketball, football, golf, soccer and plenty of play dates. You end up taking on your kids friends parents as your friends because you see them at school and all of the sporting events. They are all older than us so it keeps us feeling young.
I must say that I have been very blessed with a wonderful wife, who in a moment of weakness said yes and has put up with me ever since. She is strong, caring, a great friend and an absolutely amazing woman. Luckily our children received many of her great attributes.
I have been working for HydraMaster Corp in Mukilteo for 16 years. I can’t say we do anything real exciting but we build equipment for cleaning and restoration. Steve Borders works for us in our Seattle distributorship McDowell Supply. I work with our distributors all end up traveling a fair amount. The only good thing about traveling is racking up all those miles so that you can take your family somewhere fun.
These days I am trying to get out and golf more with my boys. My oldest went to State last year for his age group and my 12 year old beat me by a stroke last week. Oh well, I can still out drive them when I hit it strait. It is a great time for them to let their guard down and talk about all that good stuff they don’t want mom to hear. I am sure the conversations will change when little sister joins our ranks to fill out the foursome in a year or two.
We are so ready for summer to get here. We are headed to Chelan. You may run into us golfing, jet skiing, wake boarding or wine tasting. We will be the ones next door to those other class of ’87 grads T.J. & Stacie Bretz.
